LANDSCAPE PAINTING:
In Landscape Painting workshops, Mr. Sulkowski
demonstrates and teaches the concepts of painting space, light and atmospheric
effects in Nature. Composition and Color as well as Technique are also
discussed.
Early morning effects, afternoons, sunsets, clouds, water and rocks are some of the subjects which Mr. Sulkowski addresses in the landscape painting workshops.
Those who like the landscapes of the 17th century Dutch painters, John Constable, JMW Turner and the Hudson River School will gain much from these workshops.
CLASSICAL STILL LIFE & FLORAL PAINTING: In this workshop, James Sulkowski discusses the effects of light and atmosphere as they relate to forms in space. This timeless Old Master approach results in a luminous painting full of depth and rich in color. Technique, Design and Texture are also discussed at length. There are demonstrations by the artist and individual instruction to enable students to understand and simplify these classical principles.
James has written articles for American Artist magazine about his traditional approach and technique regarding Floral Painting and also Texture in the Classical Still Life. His work is featured in both BEST of FLOWER books published by North Light Books.
CLASSICAL PORTRAIT & FIGURAL
PAINTING: This workshop focuses on
the classical concepts of portrait and figure painting in oils.
Construction, gesture, anatomy, planes of the head and body as
well as form, lighting and pose are discussed and demonstrated in depth.
The model is posed in NATURAL NORTH LIGHT which is essential in the study
of classical art.
